Inp.polri.go.id – Ternate. The North Maluku Utara Regional Police have deployed 150 officers from its Mobile Brigade (Brimob) to assist in rescue efforts following severe flooding in Rua, Ternate, on Sunday (25/8/2024).
“We have sent personnel to handle the flood disaster, which has caused significant damage and loss of life,” said Senior Superintendent Bambang Suharyono, the North Maluku Head of Public Relations, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The rescue operation involved collaboration with the military, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and other relevant agencies. Led by Superintendent Indra Andiarta, the Brimob team evacuated victims and provided aid to affected residents.
The flooding has resulted in casualties and injuries, with around 30 homes buried under 1 to 4 meters of mud. The SAR team continues to search for victims and provide relief, with operations ongoing.
As many as 250 police officers, 120 military soldiers, and various support units, including ambulances and excavators, involved in the rescue efforts.
