Six Arrested for Smuggling19 Kg Meth from Malaysia in West Kalimantan

Inp.polri.go.idPontianak. The West Kalimantan Regional Police have arrested six people suspected of being involved in an international drug trafficking network and seized 19.9 kilograms of methamphetamine and 22,228 ecstasy pills during the operation.

Senior Superintendent Raden Petit Wijaya, the West Kalimantan Police Head of Public Relations, said on Friday (16/8/2024) that the arrests were made following a tip-off about drug smuggling from Malaysia through the Jagoi Babang border in Bengkayang Regency. 

The suspects, identified as MK, ML, JK, and YM, were arrested on 31 July, 2024, in Pontianak at various locations, including the basement of Hotel Aston and Ayani Mega Mall, according to antaranews.com..

Following the initial arrests, two additional suspects, HB and YD, were arrested. HB was caught while moving drug-filled bags at Ayani Mega Mall, and YD, who allegedly orchestrated the operation, was detained in Bandung. The drugs were intended for distribution in nightclubs across Bandung.

The police also uncovered that the network used specialized communication apps and had connections with the international syndicate led by Fredy Pratama.
