Chief of Papua Regional Chief Aims to Prevent Conflict in Nduga

Inp.polri.go.id – Jayapura. The Chief of Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri highlighted the importance of preventing the recurrence of the conflict in Nduga some time ago. In a message delivered to the newly inaugurated Chief of Nduga Sub-Regional Police on July 10th, 2023, he expressed the hope that such incidents would not happen again.

He underscored that the incident, which led to casualties among both the public and civilians, should serve as a valuable lesson for the future. He urged the new police chief to proactively engage with all segments of the community, as it enables them to collaborate effectively to prevent the past incidents in Nduga.

Furthermore, he called upon other police officials to quickly adapt to upcoming agendas, including the Kamtibmas (Public Order) calendar of the Papua Regional Police and the 2024 General Elections. A strong synergy between the police and the community in addressing these important agendas is crucial, he underscored.

“I will visit various regions, starting from the mountainous province to the central and southern regions of Papua, to assess the security readiness ahead of the elections. During these visits, I plan to have coffee mornings with all stakeholders, particularly the election organizers,” he said.
