Inp.polri.go.id – Mimika. The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) gave a letter to a Susi Air foreign pilot in Jila District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua on Thursday (3/16/23), explaining ways to free the Susi Air pilot who has been taken hostage by group in February.
Chief of the Cartenz Peace Operations Senior Superintendent Faizal Ramadhani said that the process was documented in a video obtained by security forces.
“Today we received information that a KKB member gave a letter to the pilot from Susi Air, a South African national, who was on duty to fly from Timika to Jila District,” he said in Mimika on Friday (3/17/23).
In the video, the suspected leader of the KKB group can be seen giving a letter in a red plastic bag to the pilot, identified by initials L.R. as one of the KKB members was seen holding a rifle.
The Peace Operation Chief explained that during the handover process, the pilot was not subjected to harsh treatment and was released. The pilot has returned to Timika.
“There was no detention, the case is still under investigation,” he explained.
