inp.polri.go.id – In order to improve the quality of public services on the outer islands of Indonesia, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) built the Pulau Laut Police Headquarters on Laut Island, Natuna, Riau Islands.
“The inauguration of the new HQ building for the Laut Island Police is a real step in supporting Polri’s duties, in improving the quality of public services on the outer islands of Indonesia,” said Inspector General Supervision (Irwasum), Commissioner General Drs. Agung Budi Maryoto, M.Sc., after signing the inscription of the Marine Island Police Headquarters at the Natuna Police Headquarters, Ranai, Riau Islands, Thursday (23/6).
The existence of the Pulau Laut HQ wasbecause of the high demand from the public for Police services. In addition, Laut Island also has a strategic value as the outermost island of Indonesia which is directly adjacent to the South China Sea, “with various potential vulnerabilities, including illegal fishing, marine accidents, drug trafficking routes, to smuggling of basic necessities,” said Commissioner General Drs. Agung Budi Maryoto.
With the existence of the Laut Island Police Headquarters, Irwasum Polri hopes that the Police will be able to realize the security of the outer islands of Indonesia with the TNI.
“This is part of Polri’s commitment to support the Government’s program, to create a just and prosperous Indonesia,” said Irwasum Polri.
Furthermore, as mandated in President Joko Widodo’s Nawacita Program, he added that the safety and security is the main factor in establishing a sense of security and comfort in carrying out daily activities.
“Without a sense of security, a good social life will not be realized in the society. With the presence of the National Police at Sectoral Police level, it is hoped that services, maintenance of security, and order to the people of Pulau Laut can run optimally,” he said.
