inp.polri.go.id – The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) succeeded in dismantling the alleged criminal practice of counterfeiting Servo, which is well known Tomato seeds owned by seed producer PT East West Seed Indonesia.
The criminal practice of violating this brand is considered very detrimental to the good name of PT East West Seed Indonesia (Ewindo) as a seed producer which has been committed for more than 30 years to provide quality horticultural seeds to farmers.
The production of fake Servo seeds is also very disturbing to farmers, which if it happens throughout Indonesia has the potential to cause farmers to lose up to Rp600 billion. The crime allegedly carried out by a group of people who launched the action from the Rancaekek and Ciparay areas, Bandung Regency, West Java.
The perpetrators use social media and market places to carry out their actions thus making them able to scam farmers across Indonesia.
“The reported party was charged with Article 100 of the Law on Trademarks and Geographical Indications with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison,” explained Head of Unit 4 Sub-Directorate 1 of the Director of Special Crime Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Java Police, Commissioner Maradona Armin Mapaseng, SH SIK.
