inp.polri.go.id – Because of many promotion of online gambling in the internet, the Police warns of online slot gambling advertisements on all social media platforms. Social media celebrities who promotes the online gambling have also been arrested, such as in Palembang.
The National Police considers that this online slot gambling endorsement will make the public interested in gambling. The Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of Polri’s Public Relations Division (Divisi Humas), Brigadier General Dr. Ahmad Ramadhan, S.H., M.H., M.Sc., said that online slot gambling issues are mentioned in the Electronic Information and Transactions Act (ITE). In the ITE Law, it is possible to arrest the perpetrators and people who distribute gambling content with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of six years and/or a maximum fine of Rp1 billion.
By only using a phone and tens of thousands of rupiah, people can try online slot gambling, and there are concerns that this model of online gambling can become a long-term addiction who has tried it.
“All violations related to ITE, whether it’s online gambling, online fraud, fraudulent investments, which are related to using our internet network will be processed. And, these issues are handled by the cyber directorate,” explained Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan.
The Police have so far uncovered many online gambling cases that are troubling for the society.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, M. Hum., M.Sc., M.M., said that his party was paying attention to the issue of online gambling. He mentioned that the online slot gambling advertisements that were rife on social media were also being monitored by the Police. He said, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Police had also issued instructions to eradicate online slot gambling advertisements.
