inp.polri.go.id – The West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Provincial Government has donated a land area of 22,000 M2 Ex IPDN Office to the West Kalimantan Police (Polda Kalbar). The grant was symbolically handed over by the Governor of West Kalimantan, H. Sutarmidji to the Head of the West Kalimantan Police (Kapolda Kalbar), Inspector General Suryanbodo Asmoro, Saturday (28/5).
In his remarks, Kapolda Kalbar gave the highest appreciation to the Governor of West Kalimantan.
“The Governor of West Kalimantan has again donated a land from the former IPDN West Kalimantan Campus, at Trans Kalimantan Street, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency,” he explained.
The land and buildings that were handed over as a grant from the Governor of West Kalimantan to the West Kalimantan Police are land and buildings covering an area of 14,903 M2, this land and building was previously used as a campus for the Taruna of the Institute of Domestic Education (IPDN) which has now moved to Sungai Purun Besar Village, Segedong District.
“With the land and building of the ex-Ipdn West Kalimantan campus, Kapolda Kalbar planned to established Safety Driving Centre (SDC) which will provide knowledge about driving procedures, including driving skills, traffic ethics on the road, steering and handling techniques, and risk management of accident, both theoretically and practically for users of the vehicles, either for the user of private cars, or public transportation,” he said.
It should be noted that the current high rate of accidents is mostly caused by human error. In the last three years, there have been 164,257 traffic violations. Meanwhile, there are 2,854 accidents resulting in 1,145 deaths, 1,331 serious injuries and 2,441 minor injuries.
“With the establishment of Safety Driving Center (SDC), drivers will obey the rules and be more vigilant in driving,” he explained.
In addition, the Governor of West Kalimantan, H. Sutarmidji also added that for the sake of public services, they committed to cooperate with other state agencies to develop the nation furthermore, especially in services, considering that West Kalimantan’s ranking in service is in the 2nd position in Indonesia.
“Like the previous UP4 building that can support public services, thisland grants can support public services in traffic,” he explained.
