inp.polri.go.id – National Police Chief (Kapolri) Listyo Sigit Prabowo leads a victory parade with the 2022 Sea Games Indonesian bicycle contingent at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday (29/5/22).
In this activity, Kapolri, who is also the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Bicycle Sports Association (PB ISSI), remarks that this victory parade was held to appreciate and raise the moral support to cyclists for making the Indonesian nation proud by donating eight Sea Games medals.
“We have just held a bicycle parade in order to give our appreciation to our Sea Games athletes. In our opinion, they have made better achievements than the targets of this year and last year. This time the Sea Games athletes got three gold, four silver, and one bronze,” stated the National Police Chief.
General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also emphasized the issue of focusing on developing bicycle sports in Indonesia, given the current bicycle is increasingly favored and in demand by the whole community.
With this phenomenon, in addition to paying attention to facilities, infrastructure and other things to improve the achievement in the bicycle sport, PB ISSI also continues to pay attention to the progress of the cycling culture which is increasingly in demand by the Indonesian people. “Our hope is that in addition to pursuing more achievements, of course is to develop a cycling culture like ISSI’s vision,” explained Kapolri.
General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the development of cycling could be done by adding new routes for cycling communities. That way, it can encourage progress in the tourism sector or sport tourism, which will automatically increase the rate of Indonesia’s economic growth. “All of this can be achieved by use if we focus. On the one hand we are pursuing achievements and on the other hand we are managing the culture well to make it big. And there is added value for our society and country,” he explained.
He emphasized that with the creation of a larger bicycle community, investment space both from within and outside the country would be open wider “Similarly, a larger community will provide spaces for foreign investment, whether it will include well-known bicycle brands. Or domestically carrying out various kinds of engineering so that the new industries for bicycles could grow,” he explained.
On the other hand, Kapolri hopes that this victory parade motivates the people and the athlete and gave a positive energy for all Indonesian cyclists in facing more prestigious sporting events in the future. “We are preparing for the Sea Games, Asian Games, and Olympics. So we have to do various kind of preparation starting from how to make repairs and prepare the facilities and building an infrastructure that are really needed. Earlier, there were several additions and then ensuring that these athletes are in a condition that can be measured every time. It’s time to use technology,” he explained.
Therefore, PGeneral Listyo Sigit Prabowo conveyed, ISSI management will prepare carefully so that athletes can continue to give their best and make the Indonesian nation proud in various world-class sporting events.
“Similarly, we must continue to maintain nutrition of the athlete and the most important thing is to improve their training, both domestically and abroad. So that the athletes’ abilities and his perfomances are getting better day by day to face a world-class event,” explained the National Police Chief.
