inp.polri.go.id – Around 60 members of the Nabire Police and the Deiyai Police have joint forces to handle the security situation in Dogiyai, Papua, after the arson.
The Director of General Criminal Directorate (Dirkrimum) of the Papuan Police, Commissioner Faizal Rahmadani, said that the assistance was to help the personnel in Dogiyai to deal with the repeated burnings that occurred in the area.
Dirkrimum Papua confirmed that since Sunday night, there had been fires that scorched around 18 people’s houses, some of the people were even injured.
However, there is no complete report on how many were injured because on Tuesday (May 24, 2022) the authorities had just arrived at Dogiyai.
It was also said that the burning caused around 180 people to flee to the police station, military station, and church.
The displaced people are mostly women and children, while adult men guard the houses or kiosks they live in.
“Currently, the security forces are conducting security patrol around several point of Dogiyai,” explained Dirkrimum Papua.
