inp.polri.go.id – Commissioner of National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Poengky Indarti assesses the oration of the National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc., in the midst of a mass of workers who held a demonstration of May Day 2022, was a part of proof that the state recognize the role of workers in improving the economy. Poengky also appreciated the oration of Kapolri.
“We appreciate Kapolri who went to GBK and supported the May Day celebration. We also commend General Listyo’s remarks who thanked the workers for their efforts to make the national economy successful,” said the Commissioner of Kompolnas, Sunday (15/5/22).
Poengky said the presence and oration of the Chief of Police increased the morale of the workers.
“The appreciation from Kapolri greatly improves the morale of workers and is part of the state recognition for the workers’ struggle in improving the national economy,” he adds.
The Commissioner of Kompolnas then voiced that Kompolnas also appreciated the peaceful rally of the May Day Fiesta. This shows good cooperation and coordination between the police and labor unions.
“Kompolnas welcomes and appreciates the May Day rally which took place simultaneously throughout Indonesia which went peacefully, smoothly, safely, and successfully. The good cooperation and coordination between the trade union confederation and the police is commendable,” added the Commissioner of Kompolnas.
Poengky Indarti, continued, good coordination between the police and the masses of workers made aspirations clearly conveyed. Poengky hopes that today’s May Day demonstration can be used as an example, by both the police and labor unions, in the future.
“With such good cooperation and coordination, workers’ rights can be voiced freely. We hope that this good coordination can serve as an example if the trade unions hold demonstrations in the future,” said Poengky.
He also emphasized that demonstrations are part of freedom of expression and expression of opinion that deserves respect.
