Representatives of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) visited the Public Relations Division (Kadiv Humas) of the National Police (Polri) at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta. This hearing discussed various issues related to health, one of which was the handling of health disinformation in the community and social media.
The Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of Polri’s Public Relations Division (Divisi Humas), Brigadier General Dr. Ahmad Ramadhan, S.H., M.H., M.Sc., said that the meeting was also to tighten the relationship between two institutions.
“Our meeting is to maintain and improve our cooperation that has been carried out so far, for example the implementation of the national vaccination program and communication between IDI and the National Police related to health disinformation in the community,” said Karo Penmas Divhumas Polri, Friday (13/5/2022).
During the meeting, PB IDI thanked the police for helping the Covid-19 vaccination program, especially when held through door to door.
“PB IDI also said it wanted to hold an audience with the National Police Chief and also improve the existing MoU,” he said.
Furthermore, Karo Penmas said, the IDI management conveyed the necessity of assistance from the Police in mitigating health care and cooperating with the mass media.
“In response to this, the Head of the Public Relations Division explained the steps of how establishing relations with the mass media and how the media management process was carried out by the Police, especially in handling Covid-19,” said Karo Penmas.
It is known that the spread of fake news or hoaxes related to health is often spread through social media, especially during the pandemic. The spread of fake news affects the community which has an impact on handling Covid-19.
