Kabaharkam Polri said the government had declared the Lake Toba area as a world tourist destination by uniting eight regencies namely, Simalungun, Toba, Samosir, North Tapanuli, Humbahas, Karo, Pakpak Bharat, and Dairi.

According to the Three-Star General, the national program can be realized if there is a good coordination with all stakeholders at the provincial and district levels around Lake Toba.

“Later on, to increase the security in the Lake Toba area, the Lake Toba Tourism Police will immediately be formed to provide security services to tourists when visiting the super priority tourism area of Lake Toba,” explained Commissioner General Arief Sulistyanto.

Meanwhile, the North Sumatra Police Chief (Kapolda Sumut), Inspector General of Police RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak, asked for the support from eight districts in the Lake Toba area to succeed the national program of super priority tourist destinations.

“By making Lake Toba a Super Priority Tourist Destination, it will increase the number of tourists and potentially increase the vulnerability of social disturbances.
