Armed Criminal Group Attacked Aminggaru Ilaga Airport

inp.polri.go.id –  The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) once again carried out their terrorism by attacking Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Puncak Papua Regency, Friday (13/5).

Head of Public Relations (Kasatgas Humas) of Cartenz Peace Ops, Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said that at around 09.28 WIT, KKB fired four shots towards the Runway 25 Post of the Air Force Base of BKO Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, from Teletabis Hill around Eromaga Village, Omukia District.

“The group that was led by Tinus Murib, fired their shots from the Teletabis Hill, Eromaga Village, Omukia District, with an estimated distance of about 600 meters to the Runway 25 Post of the Air Force Base BKO Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih in Aminggaru Ilaga Airport,” said Kamal, Friday (13/5).

Due to this incident, the Asian One aircraft with flight number PK-LTG which was about to land at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Puncak Regency, at 09.34 WIT was forced to return to Timika’s Moses Kilangin Airport.

“The shooting forced the Asian One plane from Timika, which was carrying cargo, to return to Moses Kilangin Airport because of the impossible situation,” said Kasatgas Humas.

Kamal said that there were no fatalities or injuries, and the plane was reported not to have been hit by gunfire.

“There were no casualties from the security forces or the civilians. It was also reported that the fuselage was fine and was not hit by gunfire,” said Kombes Kamal.

He added, in order to anticipate disturbances from the criminal group, the joint apparatus in Puncak Regency routinely conduct patrols around Ilaga City.

“Police and TNI officers in Puncak Regency continue to intensified their patrols to anticipate disturbances from KKB and also provide a sense of security and comfort to the community,” he added.
