inp.polri.go.id – The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolair) of Security Guard (Baharkam) personnel of the National Police (Polri) successfully thwarted the delivery of 49kg dried marijuana by sea in Balawan waters, Thursday (15/05/22). From the suspect Ilh (40), a resident of Belawan, officers managed to confiscate dried marijuana, which was planned to be sent at night via motorboat to the Riau Islands Province.
From the reports of Medanbisnisdaily.com on Friday (16/5/2022), the arrest was started with the suspicion of Ditpolairud officers who saw a man driving a motorized tricycle loaded with fish boxes crossing the beach of a Belawan dog.
Then, the officers approached the driver and checked the fish boxes. When the fish box is about to be checked, the driver looks scared and tries to run away, but is intercepted. It turned out that some of the boxes did not contain fish, but contained dried marijuana which had been duct taped and would be sent to the Province of Riau Islands.
“The fish box which was originally said to contain fish, turned out to be dried marijuana. The perpetrators were just couriers and 49 kg of dried marijuana were found in the fish box,” said the Commander of the Kedidi Patrol Vessel (KP), Iptu Rizky Hidayah Harahap at the Ditpolairud pier in Belawan.
Based on the examination, the dried marijuana came from Aceh Province which would be sent to the Riau Islands Province by sea via Belawan waters. Ditpolairud officers will pursue other drug trafficking syndicates whose identities have been identified.
The courier is temporarily being held by the Ditpolair of North Sumatra Police in Belawan.
