inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The National Police stated that they had prepared mitigation efforts to prevent the spread of mouth and nail disease (FMD) in livestock, including restricting areas where the disease was found.
Head of the Public Relations Division (Kadiv Humas) of National Police (Polri), Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo explained that the lockdown was carried out as a Biosecurity effort to prevent the spread of the livestock disease. “Mitigate the spread of the FMD virus in the East Java Province by implementing a local lockdown to temporarily stop the mobility of livestock transport outside the area or biosecurity,” he explained, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/5/22).
Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo also said that the Police would colaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture in dealing with FMD diseases. “We will continue to collaborate with the regional service office of livestock for data collection, vaccination, and measures such as neutralization and burial of dead animals by providing disinfectants or virus-killing drugs,” explained Kadiv Humas.
Not only that, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo said that his party is ready to help the Ministry of Agriculture or the local service office of livestock to carry out patrols and supervise the in and out of the livestock in the area.
“We will also conduct integrated patrols at the sub-district level and cattle farmer centers by continuing to provide advice and education to the community to calm down and separate sick cattle or suspected FMD animals. The livestock service will also provide medicine/vaccine and we will supervise the animal entry and exit at the district border, city, and province,” explained Kadiv Humas.
