inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Polda Metro Jaya has scheduled a street race in Meikarta in June 2022. This street race will be accompanied by other events such as art performances and other festivals.
Director of Traffic Unit (Dirlantas) of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said that the street race was planned to be held after the Formula E race on June 4, 2022 at the Jakarta E-Prix International Circuit (JIEC), Ancol.
“We will hold the Meikarta street race in June, and maybe we will held it after Formula E race in Meikarta,” he explained, Wednesday (11/5/22).
In order to realize the dreams of street racers, Commissioer Sambodo Purnomo Yogo will deploy a team to directly observe the location of the street race. The street racing event will be enlivened with entertainment events, such as art performances to music festivals.
“Perhaps with Meikarta, we will make an even bigger celebration, we will liven up the race event with art performances, music festivals, and so on,” explained Dirlantas.
In the Street Race event, Polda Metro Jaya not only provides a race for motorcycle only, but also car racing, as well as a competition for the mechanic skills of the mechanics. However, Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said it would depend on the conditions of Meikarta. If the road capacity is only for motorbikes, then there is no car racing.
This official street racing is a continuation of the street race in BSD, Tangerang on April 22-24. On that race, there are 687 racers who took part in that competition. Of all that competitors, 600 of them participated in motorcycles racing and 87 of them are participating in car racing.
