The National Police will deploy the Forensic Lab Center (Puslabfor) team from the Criminal Investigation Agency to investigate the cause of the massive fire that occurred in the Gembrong Market area on early Monday (25/04/2022). Puslabfor will later work together with the Jatinegara Police to investigate the crime scene in order to obtain information of the incident in the Pasar Gembrong area, North Cipinang Besar, East Jakarta. The Head of Jatinegara Police, Kompol Entong Raharja, explained that his party would involve Puslabfor to uncover the fire incident.
“This investigation will involve the Forensic Laboratory team in disclosing the fire incident,” said Commissioner Entong Raharja, Monday (4/25/2022).
According to the police chief, his party suspects that the cause of the fire was due to an electrical short circuit in one of the residential areas in RT 01/01. The reason is, this electrical short causes sparks that are ignited because the building materials for houses there generally use wood.
“Then due to the density of settlements in the alleys, the fire quickly spread from one house to another,” he said.
He added that he had asked the head of the local neighbors for further information, while other witnesses have not been examined, because according to him they are still mourning the loss of their homes.
“For the time being, the witnesses who have been examined is the head neighbors. Several other witnesses has not yet examined because now is not the right time to do that,” he said.
