inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (Polri) along with the Student Executive Board (BEM) and Youth Organizations (OKP) held a social service activity (baksos) during the month of Ramadan, for people who mainly live in the Slum Area area.
“I would like to express my gratitude for the initiatives and cooperation initiated by our colleagues from BEM and OKP. We have received information that today there are approximately 50 elements who are members of the BEM and OKP alliance in this social service activities,” said Sigit in his remarks at the event titled ‘Precision Police Social Service with BEM and OKP for the Community in the Blessing Month of Ramadan’ at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, Monday (25/4/2022).
Sigit emphasized that this collaboration is a real act of the student, BEM and youth elements in helping the community, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Sigit, by directly involved in this social activity, the students and youth organizations have made the best contribution to Indonesia.
“Keep working, keep voicing the democratic voices, and take a concrete steps in giving the best contribution to the people and Indonesia,” said Sigit.
On the other hand, the former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police stated that this collaboration with students, BEM and youth elements is not the first time. When the Pandemic occurred, the Police together and these students hang in hand working together in handling and controling the Covid-19 Pandemic.
“Of course, this is not the first time we collaborated. We have often did these kind of activities when dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, by carrying out a joint vaccinations and then also other social service activities,” said the former Banten Police Chief.
In fact, Sigit said that thanks to the synergy between them, the current rate of growth of Covid-19 can be controlled properly. Sigit stated that now Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest vaccination achievement in the world.
“Thank God, today we all see that the rate of Covid-19 has been well controlled. Our positivity rate is below 1 percent. Currently we have successfully vaccinated approximately 397 million. And we are number five for the most vaccinations in the world. This is hard work from all elements and it includes them, the students, BEM, and youths organisation,” said Sigit.
With the Covid-19 rate under control, the government has allowed people to go home for Eid in 2022 by implementing strict health protocols and accelerating booster vaccinations. The policy is also the hard work of students and youth.
Before ending his remarks, Sigit invited students and youths to jointly socialize the community who went for their hometowns to implement health protocols. Also, helping to accelerate vaccination for travelers.
“Currently, we are giving the vaccinations at security posts, service posts and integrated posts for people who haven’t got boosters. So we can be sure that people who are going home, are all in good condition and has high immunity, so the rate of Covid-19 can be maintained,” he said. “We also hold free homecoming. We have prepared 400 buses to held this program,” concluded Sigit.
