Head Village of Bilogai: Rabbit Breeding Could be An Alternative for Livestock Sector

inp.polri.go.id – Sugapa. The Head of Bilogai Village, Stevanus Belau, said that apart from pigs, rabbit cultivation is also an alternative way to improve the community’s economy in livestock sector.

Currently Noken Intan Jaya Community Development (Binmas) started to innovate by cooperating with the Head of the Bilogai Village in raising rabbits, this was conveyed directly by the Head of Bilogai Village, Stevanus Belau, who is also a rabbit breeder. When he was asked about the rabbit breeding, he said it already exist for a long time, but they were constrained by several things, such as the pen and the food.

“We have been breeding rabbits for a long time, but we are constrained by inadequate pens and food. This rabbit is actually one of the alternative farms other than pigs that people have been doing, and the results are profitable,” said Mr. Stevanus

In addition, he also hopes the assistance from the police, especially Binmas Noken, to assist him in building a rabbit breeding cage.

“We hope that the Binmas Noken team can work with us to build rabbit cultivation as a model for other communities,” said Mr. Stevanus

So far, he has sold several rabbits and also distributed them to several other communities for cultivation. Currently he is just starting over with 4 brood rabbits which consist of 3 females and 1 male to be breed again.
