inp.polri.go.id – The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) destroyed hundreds of kilograms of evidence of methamphetamine, ecstasy, and marijuana and arrested 33 perpetrators from their several disclosures, Tuesday (19/04/22).
The extermination used an incinerator machine led by the North Sumatran Police Chief (Kapolda Sumut) Inspector General Drs. R.Z. Panca Putra Simanjuntak, M.Sc., and attended by the Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi, Commander of I/BB Military Command, Major General Achmad Daniel Chardin, and other North Sumatran Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) officials.
The North Sumatran Police Chief explained that the hundreds of kilograms of drugs were the result of disclosures made by the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation (Ditresnarkoba) of the Polda Sumut and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Medan Police from March 4 to April 16, 2022.
“The disclosure of this drug crime is from a drug syndicate of the Malaysia-Indonesia network, for North Sumatra Province. The drugs transported from Aceh, Tanjungbalai and Medan,” said the Kapolda Sumut.
He revealed that the perpetrators do various kinds of methods to deliver the drugs, one of them is dropping the drugs in the middle of the sea and then picking them up and transporting them to Tanjungbalai. Some drugs got transported by a car, fully equipped with a monitoring team.
The Two-Star General also explained that the hundreds of drugs destroyed consisted of 233,723.48 grams of methamphetamine, 31.34 grams of marijuana, and 6,384 ecstasy pills from a total of 21 cases. The number of suspects is as many as 33 people consisting of 32 men and a woman.
“The suspects will be subject to Article 114 Paragraph (2) Subs Article 112 Paragraph (2) and Article 111 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with the threat of a death penalty, life imprisonment or a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years and a minimum fine of 10 billion rupiahs,” said Kapolda Sumut.
