inp.polri.go.id – Head of the Operational Assistance Section (Kabagbanops) of the Counter-Terrorism Special Detachment (Densus) 88 of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Commissioner Aswin Siregar said that the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) network group had 1,125 members.
This statement came after Densus 88 succeeded in securing 16 terrorist suspects who were members of the radical group NII in West Sumatra.
“The suspects who have been arrested said that the structure of their group is a sub-district level/term NII IV/Padang with 1,125 members. Around 400 of them are active personnel,” explained the Intermediate Officer of Densus 88 Anti-Terror Police, Monday (18/04/22).
Kabagbanops Densus 88 explained that inactive members could later be reactivated at some point. That’s when terrorist networks need their manpower.
The Akabri graduate in 1993 said that of the 1,125 NII terrorist members, they were divided into five branches. Each consists of about 200 people in the West Sumatra region.
Police Commissioner Aswin Siregar added they confiscated written documents as evidence. Its contents show that the NII network in West Sumatra has the exact same vision and mission as NII Kartosuwiryo.
“That is replacing the Pancasila ideology and the current Indonesian government system with Islamic law, the caliphate system, and Islamic law,” stated Kabagbanops Densus 88.
