inp.polri.go.id – The Indonesian National Police Chief (Kapolri), General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc., conveyed the latest developments regarding the case of subsidized fuel abuse. He stated that 117 people have been named as suspects in 81 cases.
“Regarding the fuel abuse, we report that we have secured 117 suspects and 81 cases. They are currently in the process,” explained Kapolri at the 2022 Cross-Sectoral Coordination Meeting on Operations, Thursday (14/4/2022).
He stated that the queues caused by the shortage of diesel fuel have been decreasing. However, the Police continue to monitor, to see if there are still individuals who hoard the Subsidized Fuel.
“Thankfully, now we are starting to see that the queues of diesel have started to decrease,” he said.
Furthermore, Kapolri ensured that he had coordinated with the relevant ministries/agencies regarding the fuel shortage. Among them was the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin; Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy; Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi; to Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono.
“Then related to the issue of fuel scarcity, we already had a coordination meeting with the Ministry of SOEs, because the fact is that between availability and demand in the field, the stock is greater, even sufficient for some time to come,” he said.
Kapolri said that the police and the stakeholders will continue to monitor and take action if there is abuse in the distribution of fuel.
“We will do surveillance efforts, legal action, to law enforcement against irregularities in distribution,” he said.
