inp.polri.go.id –Â Lemkapi Executive Director, Edi Saputra Hasibuan, expressed his high appreciation to the Indonesian National Police Chief (Kapolri) and his staff for their quick action in following up on public unrest due to the difficulty of obtaining subsidized fuel that occurred in various provinces. Dozens of suspects have been arrested in various areas.
“We express our appreciation for the immediate act of Kapolri in responding to fuel shortages in various regions,” said the member of Kompolnas for the 2012-2016 period, Sunday (10/4/2022).
So far, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has arrested at least 19 suspects who were involved in diverting fuel to mining and plantation companies in various regions. According to Edi Hasibuan’s observations, several regional police such as the West Sumatra Police, South Kalimantan Police, East Kalimantan Police, Bali Police, Gorontalo Police, and Jambi Police, have carried out the order from Kapolri diligently.
“We hope that all other regional police will act quickly to prevent the shortage of diesel fuel in the community,” said the police law expert at Bhayangkara University, Jakarta.
This police observer hopes that the suspects that have been arrested will be legally processed and charged with severe punishment. The Police themselves will ensnare the perpetrators under Article 40 Paragraph 9 of Law No. 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, which carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp 60 billion.
