inp.polri.go.id – Semarang. Chief of Central Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, attended the seminar titled Optimising Police Role as Digital Friend of Central Javanese. In the event initiated by the PR and Press Agency of Central Java Regional Police, the Chief of Regional Police was present and accompanied by 16 Primary Officials of the Regional Police on Tuesday morning (28/9).
The two-day seminar held in The Wujil of Semarang Regency was attended by the Section Chief of PR Agency, Criminal Investigation officers, several Editors-in-chief, and journalists.
The Chief of Central Java Regional Police stated that Police’s role is important as the digital friend. Police must open the public space and provide positive information to the public in the middle of a huge stream of hate speech, fake information, and other harmful things.
Chief of Regional Police said that positive things must arrive at the people as the audience, and Police personnel must be clever in building two-way communication with them.
“Police personnel must be clever and creative to create trending issues in public. Therefore, foresight is needed to see the developing trends and building many ways to communicate with the public so it could be fostered”, Chief of Central Java Regional Police said.
The two-star general said that Police are primarily responsible for protecting people during this digital era. The negative content developing online must be countered by educating and informative ones.
Online crimes are now becoming a severe threat that people have to be aware of. Police need to take a firm stance to address this thing.
“It is because of the wide space of our digital space. We have cyber patrol and virtual police to supervise online platforms to avoid disorders caused by hackers, hate speech, and hoax”, Chief of Central Java Regional Police said on Tuesday (28/9/2021).
According to him, the criminal offence that needs to be aware of is the cybercrime in which people and perpetrators never meet physically. This statement was confirmed by the Director of Criminal Investigation Agency of Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Djuhandani Rahardjo Putro, who attended the event as well.
“We have virtual police to supervise social media”, he said.
Chief of Central Java Regional Police hopes that the seminar could result in Police personnel to equal their perceptions on knowledge about digital space, legal problems, and scientific problem solving, which could be done for the public.
Meanwhile, Chief of PR and Press Agency of Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner M Iqbal Alqudusy, stated that the digital friend seminar could approach the public by opening public spaces. The implementation is in the form of two-way communication with the public.
“Therefore, we keep training our personnel. We are also opening two-way communication through the account that has never been managed”, Chief of PR and Press Agency of Central Java Regional Police said.
Chief of PR and Press Agency of Central Java Regional Police said that there are 70 participants from the Criminal Investigation and PR agencies in Central Java. Besides, the PR and Press Agency of Central Java Regional Police also invited mass media to spice up the event.
