The briefing was led by Chief of Pegunungan Bintang Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Cahyo Kurnito and the Nemangkawi Task Force and attended by Police Commissioner Rudi Hartono and mass media journalists to check conditions directly on the ground.
Personnel of Nemangkawi Task Force was departed at 6.00 a.m. and arrived at Oksibil airport at 6.45 a.m. At 8.15, they conducted a briefing, and at 8.30 a.m., they left for Kiwirok District by Smart Aviation plane and arrived at 8.45 a.m.
The evacuation is divided into two flying groups—the first group consisting of 11 people, three children (two of them toddlers) and eight adults. The second group is composed of six males.
Once they arrive at the Oksibil Airport, the residents are directed to Pegunungan Bintang Departmental Police to conduct a health inspection.
The refugee evacuation to the Pegunungan Bintang Departmental Police is that they could get health and food aid and also trauma healing services.
Furthermore, to maintain the conductivity situation in the Kiwirok District, security personnel, especially the Nemangkawi Task Force, is still in the Kiwirok until the position is confirmed to be conducive and refugees can return to their home again.
“After a conducive situation, the evacuated people could choose whether they will return to Kiwirok or goes with their relatives/families in Oksibil or Jayapura. We are there to enforce the law and maintaining the Kiwirok people’s right to feel safe from the government and personnel. There should be no space for armed violence in Papua,” the Chief of PR and Press Task Force of Nemangkawi Task Force, Police Commissioner Rudi Hartono, said.
