inp.polri.go.id – Jayapura. Chief of Jayapura City Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Gustav R Urbinas, held the drugs findings conference seized by his personnel from January until September 7, 2020.
Jayapura City Departmental Police stated that they have exposed 47 drugs cases and arrested 54 suspects: 53 men and one woman.
During the series of arrests from January to September 2020, twelve arrests related to amphetamine cases with the evidence weighed 142.42 grams.
Then, there is also the arrest on 34 cases of Marijuana with the evidence of 11 kgs of Marijuana and one local liquor case with 20 litres of liquor as the evidence.
“Out of 47 cases, 24 of them have been handed over to the Attorney. Five cases are still in handing over the process by investigators, and 18 cases are still being investigated”, he said on Monday (7/9/21).
Chief of Jayapura City Departmental Police said that the drug trafficking in Jayapura mainly comes from Papua New Guinea.
“The drugs come from shortcuts and water transport. Most of the dealers docked their water transport around the waters of Hamadi”, he explained.
Chief of Jayapura City Departmental Police made an example of the Marijuana case arrest on Thursday (3/9/21) at 21.00.
The local Police arrested two males initialled SLO (23), an Indonesian, and AN (48), a Papua New Guinean.
“Both are arrested without resistance at a house in Jayapura. During the operation, Police seized 114 Marijuana package weighed 3.5 kgs which are packed and ready to be distributed”, he said.
Due to their actions, both suspects would be subjected to Article 111 paragraph 2 of Law No. 35 of 2009 about Narcotics and threatened by a five-year minimum in prison and twenty-years maximum.
