Inp.polri.go.id – Papua – Limited access and quite extreme geographical conditions make education uneven in Papua. The illiteracy rate is also still relatively high in Papua and West Papua. The SI IPAR (Pi Ajar police) program, which is one of the flagship programs of Noken Community Development, continues to be carried out by the Papuan Police. This activity, which provides education and protection for the younger generation of Papua, takes advantage of the police structure present in districts that are difficult to reach by vehicles in Papua.
One of them was carried out by Noken Community Development in the Deiyai Regency area on Monday, September 20, 2021. Led by Police Inspector Second Class Frans Maraya, Police Sub- Inspector Second Class Semin Pakage, Police Chief Brigadier Agustinus Bawan, Noken Community Development personnel visited SD YPPGI Waghete Jalan Baru Airport, Tigi District, Deiyai Regency at 09.00 AM.
The arrival of the Noken Community Development personnel was welcomed by the Principal of YPPGI Waghete Elementary School, Mr. Yusak Adii. Next, Police Chief Brigadier Frans and the team conducted a short question and answered session about teaching and learning at SD YPPGI Waghete, especially after seeing the background of the children’s lives from different families.
After hearing a brief explanation from Mr. Yusak, the Noken Community Development team met with 35 children in the 5th-grade room. The activity continued with the introduction of Noken Community Development brothers. The boisterous enthusiasm of the brothers spread to each other until they appeared one by one to show that they knew PANCASILA by heart; sing the song Satu Nusa Satu Bangsa and lead a prayer for their friends when they want to go home.
Through these visits, the police are closer to school children and teachers. It also teaches that the education sector will always receive protection from the state apparatus, especially the National Police.
