inp.polri.go.id – Papua. The 2021 National Sports Week in Papua (PON) will soon be held on October 2-15.
Thousands of joint National Armed Forces and National Police personnel were deployed to secure the 2021 Papua National Sports Week (PON). To continue to provide a sense of security and comfort to National Sports Week participants this time, the National Sports Week and National Police will deploy a combined force of 9,986 personnel.
The 9,986 personnel consisted of 1,685 Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) troops, 2,800 members of the army, and 5,500 personnel from the Papua Regional Police.
The pattern of security carried out is to implement a fairly strict health protocol, especially at venues and athlete accommodations.
Head of the Central Committee, Marciano, said that since August 1, 2021, all provincial contingents have registered their athletes and officials with a total of 6,495 athletes and 3,300 officials.
“The entry by name stage has been completed on August 1, and the athlete legitimacy process has started on August 23 yesterday. This is followed by a series of delegate registration meetings and CdM meeting which will be held in Jayapura,” said Marciano
As for the competition arena, everything is ready to be used except for the paragliding and Rugby sports arenas which are still in the completion stage and are targeted to be completed by the end of September.
Regarding the opening ceremony until now, it is still being prepared by the event organizer (EO) in direct coordination with the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee, National Sports Week Grand Committee, and the security forces from the Indonesian National Police and local security.
