Sales Above Highest Retail Price, South Kalimantan Regional Police Seize Hundreds of 3Kg LPG Cylinders

inp.polri.go.id – Banjarmasin. The South Kalimantan Regional Police confiscated 606 3-kilogram LPG cylinders which were sold at a base in Banjarmasin above the Highest Retail Price (HET).

We have named the owner with the initials T as a suspect, explained Head of Sub-Directorate 1 Indagsi of the South Kalimantan Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Ridwan Raja Dewa, in Banjarmasin, Friday (08/27).

The LPG base that is being investigated is located at Pangeran Hidayatullah street, Benua Anyar, Banjarmasin with the business name Pangkalan Muhammad Torik.

The police initially conducted an investigation by monitoring the activities of the base, to follow up on public information. Until Tuesday (08/24), four people who bought LPG in large quantities from the base were arrested at a price of IDR. 18,000 to IDR. 20,000 per tube.

“So these four people bought LPG to resell for IDR. 23,000 per cylinder,” explained the Head of Sub-Directorate for Indagsi 1, Directorate of Criminal Investigation Agency, South Kalimantan Regional Police.

Based on this confession, the police took action against the base that was proven to have violated the Highest Retail Price provision of IDR. 17,500 according to the Decree of the Governor of South Kalimantan.

We confiscated 442 filled and 164 empty tubes as well as the proceeds from the sale of IDR. 1,300,000, explained the Head of Sub-Directorate 1 Indagsi of the South Kalimantan Regional Police’s Directorate of Criminal Investigation Agency.

Now the suspect is still undergoing examination and is being charged with Article 62 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 10 letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection in conjunction with Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 71 of 2015 concerning the Stipulation and Storage of Basic and Important Goods whose criminal penalties are above. 5 years in prison.

The Head of Sub-Directorate for Indagsi 1- the Directorate of Criminal Investigation Agency from South Kalimantan Regional Police reminded that business actors such as LPG bases should not try to make excessive profits and violate the law. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic impact of small communities is getting more difficult.
