inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The National Police’s Traffic Corps’ provided assistance in the form of 1,000 food packages to street vendors or street vendors in Jakarta to ease the burden on those who were also affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
National Police Chief of Traffic Corps’, Pol. Inspector General Istiono said this activity was carried out in collaboration with the Indonesian Street Sellers Association or APKLI. “On this occasion, we distributed approximately 1,000 food packages to fellow street sellers who may have been affected because their income has only decreased from day to day,” he explained in the Pasar Rebo area, East Jakarta, Friday (08/27//21).
Pol. Inspector General Istiono also briefly spoke with one of the batagor traders named Taufiq. To Chief of Traffic Corps’, Taufiq complained about how this pandemic had greatly impacted his livelihood. “So far I have been selling at school, but since school is on holiday, it is difficult, sir. But yes, since the name is selling, it’s still going, sir, just go around,” he complained to the Traffic Headquarter.
The two-star general also had time to ask street sellers about vaccinations. Most of them claimed to have been vaccinated. “Already (vaccinated), twice,” said herbal medicine trader, Maryati.
Even though they have been vaccinated, the Chief of Traffic Corps’ has reminded street sellers to continue to adhere to health protocols. One of them always wears a mask.
“The most important message to colleagues is to take care of the progress. Once again, the most important thing is to wear a mask,” explained the Two-Star General.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Indonesian Street Sellers Association ( APKLI ), Ali Maksun Atmo, told Istiono that his party always motivates street vendors during the pandemic. At the same time encourage them to follow the vaccination program. “Since March 2020, he has been accompanying street vendors, sir, from two sides. One side remains optimistic that they will continue to sell to earn sustenance. On the one hand, we still encourage you to obey health protocols and immediately vaccinate against Covid-19,” he said.
