Inspector General Argo: National Police Chief Gives Instructions to All Indonesian Levels to Carry out Thug Operations

inp.polri.go.id – Surbaya. The Head of the Public Relations Division of National Police, Pol. General Inspector Argo Yuwono, Friday (06/11/2021) morning, said that currently the Police are focused on the practice of eradicating thuggery in the community.

So yesterday the President was in Tanjung Priok and then had a chance to hold a dialogue there, and it turns out that there was some concern expressed by the container driver, said Inspector General Argo Yuwono, while at the East Java Regional Police, Friday (06/11/2021) morning.

The complaint from the container drivers is about illegal fees. Then said Argo, the President immediately contacted the National Police Chief to respond to the complaint.

“National Police’s Operational Assistant finally gave instructions, delivering it to all ranks throughout Indonesia to carry out operations against thuggery,” he explained.

Argo said that his party through Greater Jakarta Metro. Regional Police had arrested 49 peoples suspected of extortion in the Tanjung Priok area.

“The modus operandi of the thugs was to ask the driver for a tip of IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000,” he added.

“This is the main task of the National Police, we have also sent letters to the Regional Police Headquarters, the East Java Regional Police will also receive the letter and act immediately,” he explained.

He advised the police to take firm action against the practice of thuggery, so that the practice of thuggery does not just develop. Regional Police in all regions are expected to play a role in eradicating thuggery because it is possible that almost all regions in Indonesia also have thuggery practices.

“Not only in the port, but in other places where extortion occurs like that, we will take action, ” said Argo.

The Head of National Police’s Public Relations Division said that his party would also take preventive actions by cooperating with Village Advisory Officer and Security and Public Order. As well as mobilising the National Police and Police Station to provide education, but if education cannot be carried out then there will still be action against people who practice thuggery.
