JAKARTA – The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has instructed all Regional Police Officers to eradicate any acts of thuggery that disturb the public.
This follows a direct instruction from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the National Police Chief to take firm action against thugs who often harass container drivers in the North Jakarta area.
“All Regional Police and National Police in the ranks must take firm action against disturbing acts of thuggery. This is to ensure safety and provide a sense of calm to the community,” said Sigit in a written statement, Jakarta, Thursday (06/10/2021).
Not only that, Sigit said that he had given direct instructions to the Chairman of Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, General Commissioner Agus Andrianto and the entire Regional Police Chief not to give the slightest room for community elements who carried out thuggery acts.
Then, Sigit also asked his staff to release any arrests of thugs. It aims to muzzle and create a deterrent effect on the thugs.
“The state will not lose to acts of thuggery. Persons and thugs immediately clean up, arrest and finish it,” said Sigit.
In addition, Sigit alerted to the public to take advantage of Hotline 110 when encountering thuggery. According to him, the service will be available 24 hours for people who need assistance from the police.
“The public remains calm, there is no need to worry about acts of thuggery. The police now have the Public Complaints Precision application and the Hotline 110 service. We will provide maximum assistance to residents,” concluded Sigit.
