Inp.polri.go.id – Palembang. As a form of effort to suppress the spread of Covid-19 in the red zone of South Sumatra Province, the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) provided assistance to Health offices of Palembang City and South Sumatra Province. The assistance was 4,000 antigen swab test kits along with health workers. The assistance was in context of carrying out the program of Serbu Kampung Zona Merah.
South Sumatra Police Chief, Pol. General Inspector Eko Indra Heri, symbolically handed over the aid to Head of Local Health Service, Lesty Nurainy and Acting Head of Health Department in Palembang City, Fauzia, Wednesday (05/26/21).
The South Sumatra Police Chief said that it was hoped that the assistance could be used to jointly prevent the spread of Covid-19 so that Palembang City and several other South Sumatra regions could immediately get out of the red zone.
In addition of providing an antigen swab test kit, the South Sumatra Regional Police also provided assistance in form of health workers in the context of implementing a program called the Serbu Kampung Zona Merah or joint activities to reduce the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Palembang City.
Based on the data, in last few days a lot of residents of Palembang City have been infected with new type of corona virus, so it is necessary to increase awareness and strict application of health protocols (prokes).
“From the data we received, in last few days there were 88 peoples in Palembang infected with Covid-19. Of that number, the most residents of Sukarami District were 31 people,” explained South Sumatra Regional Police Chief.
To increase community awareness and discipline in implementing health protocols, his party dispatched teams to residential areas, crowd centers, traditional markets, and modern shopping centers.
“South Sumatra Regional Police personnel and their ranks continued to urge the public to always use masks, wash their hands and avoid crowds, and those who didn’t obey the rules are given legal action in accordance with the provisions,” explained the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief.
