The narcotic investigation task force (Satresnarkoba) of the Tangerang City Metro Police successfully uncovered a narcotics smuggling syndicate that weighs tens of kilograms of cannabis. There are two people named as suspects in this case. “There are around 65,229 grams of evidence (marijuana) secured,” said the Head of the Tangerang City Metro Police, Police Grand Commissioner Deonijiu de Fatima, Tuesday (25/5/21).
The disclosure of this case stems from a public report. The team investigated for one week and followed targets from Daan Mogot Avenue, Tangerang City, to the PT Cargo Office in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
Then, on Wednesday (5/5/21) at 2 pm, the police arrested the suspect with CR on Jalan Wahid Hasyim, Central Jakarta. With evidence of 64 bricks containing marijuana in a Toyota Avanza with police number B 2784 UFO. “Based on a temporary investigation, the marijuana was sent and controlled from Sumatra-Aceh and will be distributed in the Jakarta-Tangerang area,” explained the Head of Metro Tangerang Police.
In the development process, the police finally returned to secure another suspect with the initials SW and confiscated 12 packages of marijuana evidence. Meanwhile, the suspects’ modus operandi in distributing marijuana was by sending it like a package of goods. “The mode of operation is through package delivery services,” explained Deonijiu de Fatima.
For their actions, the suspects were suspected in Article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary to Article 111 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 the Year 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of death penalty or life imprisonment.
