Indonesian National Police: The MTI Terrorist Group Wanted to Surrender

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police said the leader of Eastern Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terrorist group, Ali Kalora had tried to surrender, but it was suspected that he got threat from his own group.

“There was an effort to surrender etc,” as said by the Head of Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) Division of Public Affairs Indonesian National Police l, Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, Monday (05/24/21).

According to him, the joint-team of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)-Indonesian National Police (Polri) called Madago Raya Task Force is still searching for the MIT members. He expected that Ali Kalora and his team would soon be arrested.

“From the operation, we expect the MIT case can be solved. The Ali Kalora’s group must be searched in Poso area and its surrounding,” as said by the Head of Public Information Indonesian National Police.

Ali Kalora has been in the list of DPO (People Search List) since the last five years. He is the successor to Santoso alias Abu Wardah who was shot dead by the Tinombala Operation Task Force in 2016.

The MIT terrorist group is well-known for being vicious. Later they were suspected as the mastermind behind the murder of four residents in Kalimago Village, East Lore District, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi, last Tuesday (05/11).
