Corruption Eradication Commission Explains that the Nganjuk Regent’s Sting Operation is the Work of the Indonesian National Police

inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) denied that the Sting Operation of Nganjuk Regent, Novi Rahman Hidayat, which the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal and Investigation Agency handled, was impacted by the release of 75 employees of the KPK. The Corruption Eradication Commission emphasized that the disclosure of the corruption case in Nganjuk was the work of the Indonesian National Police.

“We emphasize that the Nganjuk case since April 2021, before the arrest activity was carried out, has been mutually agreed upon between the Corruption Eradication Commission and the Criminal and Investigation Agency, the handling of the case will be carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission, National Police’s Criminal and Investigation Agency,” said Acting Corruption Eradication Commission’s spokesperson Ali Fikri, Saturday (05/22 / 2021)

He said the Corruption Eradication Commission and Crime Investigation Agency received the same complaint about alleged corruption in Nganjuk. The Anti-Corruption Commission has coordinated many times to determine the agency to handle the case.

He also emphasized that the Corruption Eradication Commission was only accompanying the National Police when the Nganjuk Regent was arrested. He denied that the Indonesian National Police took over the case because the KPK was feeble of people after terminate 75 persons of their employees.

“The joint team consisting of eleven Crime Investigation investigators assisted by three investigators from the Corruption Investigation Commission,” said Ali.

Ali said that the Corruption Eradication Commission could not handle cases that other agencies have already handled. The Commission Eradication Commission only carries out a supervisory function to assist the Police.

Ali regretted that some linked the Novi case with an employee dismissal. According to him, these two things do not correlate at all.

“We regret that there are parties who deliberately build the wrong opinion that the Corruption Eradication Commission continued the Nganjuk case because of the polemic of the national insight test,” said Ali.
