Seized turtles from the Water Police of West Papua’s Regional Police were released into the sea

inp.polri.go.id- Sorong. Large green turtles confiscated by Water Police from West Papua Regional Police’s Directorate of Law Enforcement Division From The People of Sorong were released to the wild sea by joint agencies.

 

The turtle release activity is a collaboration of all related agencies as a national action for turtle protection conservation coordinated by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Coastal and Marine Resources Management Workshop (Loka PSPL) Sorong.

 

The release of turtles is a national action for turtle conservation in collaboration with all relevant agencies such as the West Papua’s Regional Police, the Indonesian Navy, West Papua’s Great Hall for Natural Resources Conservation, the Agriculture Quarantine and other institutions engaged in conservation

 

The release of turtles is also part of the socialization and education to the public that turtles are protected animals. Conservation is not only one agency that works but requires cooperation and synergy with all agencies that also carry out conservation activities to protect turtles from running well.

 

In addition, turtles are protected animals because the presence of turtles is significant to improve the ecosystem in the sea. Turtles in the sea show that the seawater is immaculate and of good quality because turtles cannot live in dirty water.

 

To note, the West Papua Regional Police’s Directorate of Police Law Enforcement Division managed to secure a resident with the initial WNF. These residents were caught carrying protected turtles in the waters of the City of Sorong, West Papua.

 

Head of the Sub-Division for Law Enforcement of the Police Directorate for West Papua’s Regional Police, Kompol Syarifur Rahman, said that his party arrested a resident who was caught carrying a protected turtle Suprau Tanjung Kasuari area this weekend.

 

These residents and their evidence were immediately taken to the office of the West Papua Regional Police for questioning section. According to the Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate, the personnel of Water Police’s Law Enforcement Directorate at West Papua’s Regional Police conducted investigations around Tampa Garam, Suprau, and Tanjung Kasuari in Sorong, and they discovered community activities by carrying two giant turtles.

 

Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate explained that one green hawksbill turtle is still alive. One more turtle is dead, and only the shell remains. After securing the residents and pieces of evidence, they immediately coordinated with the Center for Conservation of Natural Resources or West Papua’s Great Hall for Natural Resources Conservation regarding the turtle.
