inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Polri guarantees security to members of the armed criminal group (KKB) Papua, who surrendered and pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia. Most recently, there were three members of the Papuan KKB who surrendered. They pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
“We must, as Indonesian citizens (WNI), have to take care of him as well. It may be a threat from his earlier group who felt that he did not like him surrendering himself,” said Head of the Public Information Section of the Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, Thursday (20 May 2021).
The provision of security is also a form of monitoring of the pledge of allegiance to Republic of Indonesia that he has made. The reason is, said the Head of the Penal Office, it is not impossible that the KKB, which has surrendered, defected again or did other illegal things.
“We do not just believe it. We will continue to carry out security and supervision of those concerned. We also have to be vigilant,” explained the Head of the Public Information.
However, investigations and legal proceedings against suspected criminal violations will still be investigated even though KKB members have surrendered.
The police will carry out a series of investigative processes if a criminal offence is found as long as he is still a member of an armed separatist group that has now been labelled a terrorist by the government. “I want to return to the bosom of the motherland. We accept the love of Indonesia’s homeland,” he explained.
“But first look, suddenly he has committed a criminal act, he is one of the groups. Of course, he will not drop his criminal sentence,” said the Head of Public Information.
Previously, three KKB members surrendered. They are YAW (34), MM (17), and OM (41) and surrendered to the TNI officers from the Battalion Task Force 715 / Mtl who were patrolling Kampung Tanah Merah, Saturday (15/5/2021).
