Binmas Noken Newangkawi Task Force Gives Trauma Healing to Children in Ilaga

Efforts to restore psychology to the community after the firefight between Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI)-Indonesian National Police (Polri) joint troops and terrorist groups in Tagaloa, Wuloni and Mayuberi villages, Puncak Regency, Papua, continues to be carried out by TNI-Polri personnel.

Trauma healing is given mainly to children. Assistance in the form of 1,000 basic food packages was also provided to the community spread over 10 points in Ilaga District.

Some residents of Kampung Tagaloa, Wuloni and Mayuberi, are currently securing themselves in Ilaga District, following the existence of a terrorist group led by Lekagak Talenggeng that is being hunted by TNI-Polri troops.

Efforts to restore psychological or trauma healing and the provision of basic food packages were carried out by personnel from the Indonesian National Police Binmas Noken. They were members of the Nemangkawi Operation, and personnel from Military District Commander (Kodim) 1714 / PJ Ilaga, in front of the Puncak Regency Social Service Office, Wednesday (19/5/2021).

The children’s faces were cheerful when they were invited to sing Christian Hymns and songs together by Binmas Noken Indonesian National Police personnel.

Not only singing hymns and songs, but the children were also invited to play with aeroplane toys made of paper and light games to make the atmosphere cheerful.

Head of the Public Relations Nemangkawi Task Force Police Grand Commissioner M. Iqbal Alqudusy said the activities carried out by the Nemangkawi Task Force were an effort to eliminate trauma, especially children after the TNI-Polri shootout with terrorist groups in Tagaloa, Wuloni and Mayuberi villages last week.

In addition, this social service activity is also an effort to gentle approach the community in three districts in Puncak Regency.

“The children were so happy with the presence of the Binmas Noken of the Nemangkawi task force,” said Iqbal.

Mrs Yorina Tabuni admitted that she was delighted to see the children looking cheerful again. He also felt happy getting essential food assistance.

Mrs Yorina said she had to secure herself to Kampung Kimak from Kampung Mayuberi, following its existence people who disturbed the community service by burning schools, housing and government facilities, and people’s houses.

“I was afraid, so I secured myself from Kampung Mayuberi to Kampung Kimak. I have been in this place for three weeks,” said Mrs Yorina.

Mrs Yorina hopes that the government can immediately build educational facilities that have been burned so that children can get an education again.

Along with Mrs Yorina. Mr Alpius Waker, as Secretary of Kampung Mayuberi hopes that the government can immediately rebuild school facilities and public facilities that were burned so that community activities can resume as before.

He also hopes that TNI-Polri personnel can assist in teaching children who are in this place in the future.

“I also express my gratitude to the TNI-Polri, especially to Binmas Noken,” said Mr Alpius, while what the government hopes to achieve.

One of the leaders of the KINGMI Church in Amungi Village, Ilaga District, Rev. Isak Dewelek, asked the government to rebuild facilities that irresponsible groups had damaged.

Meanwhile, Mr Penius Pegelek, an employee in Ilaga District, said that the reason for the community to secure themselves in Kampung Kimak was because they were afraid of disturbance from people who caused trouble in their village.

“I hope that development in Puncak Regency will continue, such as schools, health facilities, roads and others,” said Mr Penius.
