The Nemangkawi Operation Cyber Task Force arrested Harun Gobai for posting hoax information that said there would be the extermination of Papuans or genocide. It is not known that Harun himself does not remember hoax news.
Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Police Senior Superintendent Iqbal Al Qudusy, said that the arrests were carried out last night at around 21:15 WIT. The suspect was arrested at Mess Ridje Camp Barak U, PT Freeport Mile 72, Tembagapura, Mimika Regency, Papua.
“The Nemangkawi Cyber Operation Task Force has arrested the owner of the Facebook account, Enago Womaki, who spreads hatred. The account owner is Harun Gobai,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Iqbal, Thursday (6/5/2021).
The suspect himself is currently still undergoing an examination process at the Mimika Police. The suspect is known to have spread hoaxes through social media on April 20, 2021.
“Not only that, but Harun Gobai also tweeted the following in the previous year on 26/07/2020, at 15:29 WIT,” explained Iqbal.
For his actions, the suspect was subject to Article 45 paragraph (2) junto Article 28 paragraph 2 of Law No. 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning ITE. The suspect faces sentences of up to five years in prison.
