The security situation in the Puncak Regency area has returned to being conducive after an armed criminal group carried out a firefight with TNI INP troops. Not only injuring the security forces, but the KKB also terrorized and even killed local civilians.
To overcome the disturbance of the armed criminal group, the joint TNI-INP apparatus deployed its troops. Even the joint TNI-INP forces also sent additional personnel to provide security for the people in Puncak Regency.
The mobility of the people in the Puncak Regency has returned to normal. This is shown by the busy activity in the market in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency.
As an expression of gratitude and a symbol of peace, the community held the traditional honai burn in the Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Monday (3/5) morning.
The honai burning tradition is led directly by the Chief of the Peak Tribe, Nicolas Salom. According to Nicolas, burning honai marks the end of the conflict problem between Simon Alom and Elvis tabuni by custom.
“This is my custom from Monday (3/5) to Tuesday (4/5). During the activity, the situation is safe until the activity is complete again,” said Nicolas.
In preparation for the implementation of the honai burning tradition, the Deputy Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Police Superintendent Dr. Fajar Satria, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., and Chief of Puncak Sub-Regional Police, Police Commissioner I Nyoman Punia. Their presence is to greet and visit the local community.
The presence of the police ensures that the traditional honai burns will run safely and conducive later. The community also seemed enthusiastic about the arrival of INP personnel in this customary tradition.
They appreciated and thanked for the alertness and hard work of the joint TNI-INP apparatus, which had pushed back the KKB until the Puncak area was again conducive.
